Dr. Megan Lochner took the trauma of a patient's near-death experience and turned it in to a positive one that has helped thousands of staff at Stonybrook Hospital in New York.
When anyone in the NICU or L&D calls a Code Lavender, a team composed of chaplains, physicians, social workers and psychologists as well as patient advocates and personnel from employee assistance jump into gear. They provide an immediate calming influence and decide if further assistance is needed – including one-on-one sessions with trained staff members called “wellness champions.”
Learn how Dr. Lochner used $500 to start her program and the ways they pivoted during the pandemic and have expanded their program since in this recent article. Read more here - https://www.stonybrooktransformed.com/hospital/code-lavender/
