New•ish to the NICU Virtual Meet-up
There are many times in our nursing career that we feel “new”. Caring During Cooling – Mini Series
In this special webinar event on May 20th, Dr. Lina Chalak will summarize the evidence that neonates with mild HIE are at significant risk for adverse long term outcomes and will elaborate on the possible role of EEG, amplitude EEG and parenteral involvement to guide decision making during the first 6 hours of life, which still remains to be the critical window of time for offering cooling.
We will discuss the rapid loss of clinical equipoise amongst NICU clinicians related to offering cooling for infants with mild HIE and review the underlying legal and ethical implications for this decision.
Overall, the goal of this webinar presentation is to share the current evidence on the known outcomes for infants with mild HIE, and to update you on the status of future trials.
