HIE and Cooling

Cooling for infants with moderate to severe hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy is considered standard of care, since proven to reduce morbidity and mortality when the infants were followed until 2 years old.

Infants enrolled in 3 major clinical trials are followed up at 6-7 years to determine the long term outcomes after cooling therapy for moderate to severe HIE.
